    Contemplative Practice at St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace

    Join us to share contemplative silence for the sake of our world at this special event celebrating Inter Faith Week.

    Contemplation is a universal practice that can be found in faith and secular traditions from around the world. Those of all faiths and none are warmly welcome.You are welcome to practice your preferred mode of contemplative practice in this gathering, but no previous prayer or meditation practice is required.

    This event will include a short reading drawn from different faith/secular sources, an offering of shared prayer, 30 minutes of silent contemplation, and a chance for participants to share any reflections if they wish. This will be followed by a shared meal from 19.30-21.00.…

    Interfaith Week Flag Raising

    The London Borough of Barking & Dagenham invites our local community to join us in celebrating the beginning of Interfaith Week on 11 November. This special occasion highlights the positive contributions of various faiths to our community, fosters a deeper understanding of different religious beliefs, and acknowledges the common values we share.
    Deputy Leader Saima Ashraf and local faith leaders will deliver speeches, and students from Gascoigne Primary School will perform short musical pieces to mark the week.

    Zero Waste Community Leadership Training
    The course is designed to empower aspiring community leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to galvanise their communities to reduce waste.
    The course has two parts:
    1) A webinar about waste reduction in Barnet
    2) An in-person training about community outreach

    The webinar is free to attend, and anyone can join us. It teaches why we must reduce our waste and hyper consumption, and how to do so in Barnet. Register on Eventbrite

    Midlands Interfaith Conference

    Room EC1-29, Frank Whittle Building, 3 Gulson Road, Coventry CV1 2JH. 18.00 – 21.00
    This evening event will take place at Coventry University. It is designed to re-energise interfaith dialogue and multi-faith social action across the West and East Midlands, in the wake of the closure of the Inter Faith Network, the Middle East conflict and the recent disturbances in British cities. The Faith Minister, Lord Khan of Burnley, will be giving the keynote speech. Other speakers include Professor Mike Hardy from the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University; Cllr Abdul Khan, Community Cohesion lead, Coventry City Council; the Most Revd John Witcombe, Dean of Coventry Cathedral; Rabbi Dr Michael Hilton; Patricia Stoat, Chair of Nottingham
    Interfaith Council; and Kirit Mistry, Founder of South Asian Health Action, Leicester. There will be plenty of networking, and an opportunity for participants to design new collaborations and projects. The conference will be accompanied by an Interfaith Fair where local inter faith groups can showcase their activities (starting 5pm), and preceded by a workshop for young adults.…

    Inter Faith Lecture | Hummus and Gefilte Fish: Misrecognition and Divergence in Jewish-Palestinian Peace Initiatives

    Join us online or in-person for a lecture which will consider why religious Jews and Muslims in Israel/Palestine have broadly avoided the mainstream liberal peace camp. It will also explore what religious Jewish groups do differently when they organise their own peace initiatives. This distinction is revealing and speaks to divergent understandings of what peace looks like and how to get there.

    Join us for the Eco Volunteering Fair at Middlesex University on Thursday 14th November from 11am to 2pm. Visit a variety of stands offering volunteering opportunities across Barnet. Whether it is gardening, helping out at London Zoo, beekeeping or just being a good neighbour and keeping fit, come along and find out more.

    This is a free event which ties in with the principles of Mitzvah Day 2024, themed this year as Stronger Together. See you there!

    On Wednesday Nov 13th the Westminster cathedral interfaith group will meet in the Hinsley room, Morpeth Terrace from 1.30 to 3 p.m. Tharik Hussain Outreach and Education Officer for Burton: Exploring Without Boundaries will tell us about a possible visit to the tomb of Richard Burton in Mortlake next year. He was a Catholic with a great interest in the East. Please also bring your copy of Pope Francis' Message for the Season of creation. Copies available on the day. Refreshments available.
